Background

Treewaii is minted on the Polygon Matic Network, a layer 2 solution from the Ethereum ecosystem.

As communicated through the Polygon community ‘the problem is that processing transactions on Ethereum requires heavy computational lifting which uses a lot of energy in what is known as Proof of Work (PoW). The cost to solve complex algorithmic puzzles in return for rewards using Ethereum burns about 97 terawatt hours of electricity per year, which is the same amount of energy consumption used by entire countries such as the Philippines and Kazakhstan.
